How to protect our threatened plants. Why has a particular plant become rare, and what can be done about it, when 28 % of plants in Switzerland are at risk or extinct ? The exhibition describes developments in biodiversity worldwide and in Switzerland, how it is monitored, relevant legislation, the tools used in conservation and the role of botanical gardens. Finally, it addresses the reasons that species become rare and the impact of global changes.

Switzerland Looking Outward in the Age of Enlightenment. The museums of the Palais de Rumine are presenting a new shared and interdisciplinary exhibition. How can we define what is “ exotic ” in Switzerland or elsewhere ? “ EXOTIC ? ” examines the relationships between Switzerland and elsewhere during the Age of the Enlightenment, while aiming for a better understanding of world views and the stereotypes which arise from them, and making the link to the 21st century.
